Privacy Notice: Part 2 - Research Participants

This Privacy Notice – Part 2 sets out details of our processing of our research participants’ personal information. It should be read in conjunction with part 1 of this privacy notice.

 

Our research can take various forms, including interviews with the possible provision of photographs, videos and written and audio stories, and short surveys. We will always obtain your consent before you agree to participate in research by explaining the project and what is involved, so you can make an informed decision about participating. Your participation is entirely optional, and you are free to withdraw at any time without giving a reason. We often use external partners and other third parties to gather information on our behalf, and it will be clear where this is the case. Depending on the nature of the research, information collected may anonymised, meaning you cannot be identified from it. More information on the precise nature of the research, including whether the information will be anonymised, will be provided to you as part of the introduction to the project.

 

If you are participating in a recorded interview or appearing in videos or photographs, we will obtain additional consent to use that information, except where you appear incidentally in the images. Please see part 2 of our privacy notice (photographs, videos and written and audio stories) for more information.

1.    Controller of your information

Lee Valley Regional Park Authority (“We”) are the controller of your personal information. Where we legitimately share your information outside of the Authority, the recipient organisation may either be the processor or joint controller, depending on the circumstances and subject to appropriate safeguards and controls.

Your information may be collected in a variety of ways.

3.    Information we collect about you

The following table sets out:

  • The personal information about you that we may hold or process.

  • The purposes for which your personal information may be held and processed.

  • The lawful basis under which your personal information may be held and processed.

  • Where any personal information is special category information, the special condition(s) relied upon.

  • Where any personal information relates to criminal convictions and offences, whether provided by you or by other sources, the special condition relied upon.

4.    Who we share your information with

Your personal information may be shared internally within the Authority with individuals who are required to receive it for legitimate business purposes according to their role.

 

Your information may be shared externally, depending on the circumstances. Where this is the case, the types of organisations with whom your information is shared and the purpose for which it is shared are shown in the following table.

5.    Where your information will be stored

Any personal information you provide will be stored in a secure area and will only be accessible to members of the research team for legitimate Authority purposes.

6.    How long we keep your information for

We will only keep the information for as long as necessary for the research, after which it will be destroyed. For more information, please see the details you will be given at the time.

7.    International transfers

We do not currently share any of your information internationally. However, we may publish anonymised results of our research online, which is available for access by the world.

8.    Changes and updates to this privacy notice

We may change this privacy notice (parts 1 and/or 2) from time to time without notice to you. Any changes will apply to you and your data immediately. If these changes significantly affect how your personal information is processed, we will take reasonable steps to let you know.
