Blue Streams and Green Lanes

This months walk explorers Silvermeade and Nazeing Marsh. With springs not very far away this walk may show you some early signs such as catkins on the trees or some early wild flowers. Silvermeade is a very important site for Water Voles and so you can never know you might just be lucky enough to spot one in one of the ditches or part of the river so keep you eyes open for them.

A short and interesting walk around this area will take in streams and hedge rows along with some grazing land and the far end of Nazeing Lagoons. The walk will take you along the River Lee on the western side before taking a loop around Nazeing Marsh an back up past Rushey Mead giving a delightful walk through the Lee Valley park, round some of the key fishing sites in the Lee Valley and all of the Nazing Lagoons hold specimen Carp in them which the anglers will know by name.!

Coming back around the lagoons you will follow the river for a short while before coming back the other side of Rushey Meads through the wild scrub area where you might see winter thrushes or other wildlife. This is a great walk around some diverse habitat but also just a nice stroll out in the park on an early spring day.
