Keeping you safe - riding

Keeping you safe

Throughout the Coronavirus outbreak, keeping our visitors, staff and volunteers safe has been our top priority. We’ve reviewed the Government’s latest advice and with changes to the way we run the centre we plan to start initially reopening for intermediate and advanced private riding lesson from 6 July.

To help ensure everyone’s safety we need you to follow these instructions:

Booking and coming to the site

  • Enquiries and requests are to be made via email
  • Bookings can only be paid for and completed by telephone. Our receptionists will contact you via telephone to confirm your booking and take payment
  • If you or anyone in your household is experiencing any signs of illness do not attend the centre and call reception ASAP
  • You must maintain 2m between yourself and others at all times
  • Face coverings are mandatory for all customers when entering the venue’s receptions, shops and catering outlet. They can be removed if instructed by a member of staff so that activities can be undertaken and for consuming food
  • Track and Trace – please help us to support NHS Track and Trace by registering your contact details when entering the venue using either QR code or web link available. If you need any help to do this please ask a member of staff
  • Hand sanitiser will be available on site but we advise to bring your own as well

During your visit

  •  All riders must use the hand sanitiser before entering the venue and again immediately after
  • Enter the centre via the reception doors, these will be locked on arrival, please wait to be let in, where the member of staff will inform you of the horse you are riding. You must then proceed straight to the horse’s stable where the Instructor will meet you
  • Changing rooms and vending machines are not available for use
  • The toilets at reception will be available if urgently needed, these are being cleaned regularly, but please try and go before coming to the centre
  • Please bring only what’s needed. Do not bring any food at all, however you may bring a drink – any rubbish must be taken home with you
  • Riders must bring their own hat that meets the current BHS approved guidelines

  • If you cannot successfully adjust your stirrup length and tighten your girth on board the horse you will be asked to dismount and make the adjustments from the floor. If you still cannot make adjustments your lesson will continue as a stable management lesson where you will be taught this skill
  • You must be physically fit enough to be able to mount and dismount unaided whilst maintaining control of the horse

  • If you are not confident in placing the head collar on the horse or tying the horse up after your lesson this will again be taught as part of your lesson
  • You must not touch any other horses or equipment
