Keeping you safe

Keeping you safe

Throughout the Coronavirus outbreak, keeping our visitors, staff and volunteers safe has been our top priority. We’ve reviewed the Government’s latest advice and, with changes to the way we run Lee Valley Athletics Centre, we can now reopen the outdoor training facilities and start welcoming you back.

To help ensure everyone’s safety we need you to follow these instructions:

Our staff
  • Staff on reception are protected by screens and wearing appropriate PPE. Please observe any distance markings and the limits on the number of people allowed in the communal areas and training groups – these are in place your and our staff’s safety

Booking sessions
  • We’re currently only opening the outdoor track and field areas, including the Trim Trail.  All indoor training facilities will remain closed
  • All sessions to use the outdoor facilities must be booked and paid for in advance using our online booking system
  • Booking prices are £4 per person or free for pre paid members
  • Under 16's must be accompanied by a supervising parent or coach though these people do not need to book to attend. All coaches and spectators attending in this way must sign in at reception with contact details so if there is any outbreak linked to the centre we have the necessary information to contact people
  • Athletes must bring a copy of their booking confirmation e mail either on a phone or on paper for checking at reception

Visiting the site
  • If you or anyone in your household is experiencing any signs of illness do not come to the centre
  • Face coverings are mandatory for all customers when entering the venue’s receptions, shops and catering outlet. They can be removed if instructed by a member of staff so that activities can be undertaken and for consuming food.
  • Track and Trace – please help us to support NHS Track and Trace by registering your contact details when entering the venue using either QR code or web link available. If you need any help to do this please ask a member of staff
  • Hand sanitiser will be available at multiple locations on site but we also recommend that you bring your own as well
  • A large proportion of the centre's car park is currently being used as a drive through COVID-19 test centre, however dedicated parking for athletes is available and is signposted on arrival
  • When parking, make sure you park far enough away from anyone else to avoid contact with other people. If other people are nearby, please wait for them to go before you get out of your car
  • Do not arrive early for your sessions
  • Changing rooms, vending machines and the café are all closed. There will be limited toilet facilities
  • We’ve stepped up cleaning frequency in the communal areas and the toilet facilities

During your training session
  • England Athletic guidelines should be strictly followed when on site, in particular 2m social distancing at all times whilst a 10m gap is advised if athletes are running behind each other
  • All equipment should be sanitised before use and hands washed after use.
  • Coaches can supervise no more than 5 athletes at a time

Leaving the site
  • When you finish your training please leave the centre as soon as possible
  • Take care in the car park and, if there are people near your car, wait for them to go before you get into yours. Don’t have social gatherings in the car park
